What is a domain name?
It is the user
friendly name that people will use to identify and find your web
site opposed to the technical IP address which is a series of numbers.
Additionally, it can form the basis of an e-mail address. It is
important to register your company name now even if you feel you
do not have an immediate need for a web site.

5. Why register
more than one domain name?
When establishing
your presence on the Internet it is important to protect your brand.
You need to ensure that you register your name in at least the
two most important extensions, .com and .co.uk.
This will prevent competitors or speculators registering your name.
It is also important to register your name in all the possible options
that people may look for. If, for example, your business was Annies
Apples then you should consider registering the following:
www.anniesapples.com, www.anniesapples.co.uk and www.annies-apples.com,
www.annies-apples.co.uk. By simply redirecting all the domain
names to your main site, you could ensure that all those wishing
to visit your site could find their way to your main site.

8. Are there
any restrictions on choosing a domain name?
A domain name
may use all 26 letters of the alphabet and any number from 0 to
9. You may also use a dash (-).Domain names are NOT case sensitive.
Domain names must be less than 63 characters in length. This limit
of 63 includes characters such as .co.uk. No spaces or other characters
are allowed. Two character domain names can only be registered if
they are the registered trademark of that company. .ltd.uk extensions
are reserved for private limited companies and .plc.uk are for public
limited companies. We recommend you keep your domain name as short
and memorable as possible.

9. How do I use my domain
as an e-mail address?
E-mail forwarding
allows you to use your domain name as part of your e-mail address,
whilst retaining your existing e-mail address. It is easy to set
up and allows you to still use your existing e-mail provider. Any
e-mail messages to your 'new' address (i.e. one that incorporates
your new domain name) would then be automatically redirected to
your existing address, just like traditional postal forwarding.
If you then change your Internet Service provider you can simply
change the address we forward your mail. No need to tell everyone
your new e-mail address .
